2025年1月23日：【新年念佛好】Nianfo – The Auspicious Practice for the New Year
⧉ 有人问：新年要如何度过才吉祥？是否需要拜太岁？
我说：一切不如念佛好。为何如此？
佛在《无量寿经》云：念佛具有无上功德。
佛在《观经》云：佛光摄取念佛人。
佛在《阿弥陀经》云：念佛者得十方诸佛护念。
论简易，不如念南無阿彌陀佛。
论殊胜，也不如南無阿彌陀佛。
由此可知：
最吉祥的语言是：南無阿彌陀佛
最有力量的祝福是：南無阿彌陀佛
最好的祈福仍是：南無阿彌陀佛
新年之际，称念佛号，最为殊胜。一切皆不如念佛。愿诸众生，同称佛号过好年。南無阿彌陀佛

English Translation:
【Nianfo – The Auspicious Practice for the New Year】
Someone asked:“How should we spend the New Year in an auspicious way? Do we need to perform any special rituals to appease the ‘Tai Sui’ (Year Deity)?”
My reply:“Nothing is better than reciting the Buddha’s name. Why so?”
In the Infinite Life Sutra, the Buddha says:“Reciting the Buddha’s name encompasses boundless merit.”
In the Contemplation Sutra, the Buddha says:“The Buddha’s light embraces those who recite His name.”
In the Amitabha Sutra, it is stated:“Those who recite the Buddha’s name receive the protection of all the Buddhas of the ten directions.”
Whether in terms of simplicity or excellence, nothing surpasses reciting “Namo Amitabha Buddha.”
Hence we can see:
The most auspicious words are “Namo Amitabha Buddha.”
The most powerful blessing is “Namo Amitabha Buddha.”
The best way to pray for good fortune is still “Namo Amitabha Buddha.”
As the New Year begins, reciting the Buddha’s name is the most supreme practice. May all beings join in the recitation of “Namo Amitabha Buddha” and enjoy a wonderful New Year.
